Die Klubhuis

Die Klubhuis forms part of the third phase of the prestigious and contemporary The Club development - a mixed-use precinct located across the road from the Pretoria Country Club. The brief was focused on providing a large open floor area for the Planet Fitness Gym, Office 
program and had to include basement parking in order to lighten the load on the entire precinct parking requirements.

The site is located on the intersection of Pinaster Avenue and 18th Street, Hazelwood Pretoria. The focus of the development was on high visibility and achievement of a prestigious and iconic design, worthy to accommodate one of the most successful developers.

 

One of the key factors of the design brief was to create a design language that would complement and communicate with the existing Club Precinct structures and urban spaces, tying the entire precinct together.  However, Die Klubhuis still needed to be a unique and an iconic building - creating a distinct presence for Atterbury Property’s Headquarters.

 

A long-term lease was secured with Planet Fitness, which kick-started the development.  The remainder of the bulk was allocated to commercial office space and retail - providing a well-balanced tenant mix together with surrounding Hazelwood, Brooklyn and Waterkloof residential areas.  

The design had to accommodate a running track for the gym, together with a diverse tenant list and a continuous pedestrian flow with public spaces between the buildings, to complement the existing urban fabric.
